چکیده
Abstract Biochar (BC) has gained attention for removal of toxic elements (TEs) from aqueous media; however, pristine biochar often exhibits low adsorption capability. Thus, various modification strategies in BC have been developed to improve its capability against TEs. Nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) and oxides (FeOx) used as sorbents TE removal. However, these materials are prone agglomeration also expensive, which make their usage limited large-scale applications. The nZVI technical demerits could be resolved by the development BC-based composite through loading or FeOx onto surface. Nano modified (nZVIBC), FeOx-modified (FeOxBC) attracted removing pollutants phases. Nonetheless, a potential use nZVIBC FeOxBC environments not well-realized reviewed. As such, this article reviews: (i) preparation characterization FeOxBC; (ii) capacity retention line with physicochemical properties, (iii) mechanisms FeOxBC. Adopting increases sporptive TEs due surface modifications morphology, functional groups, elemental composition. combined effects nZVI, Fe salts on sorption complex because they very specific This review identified significant opportunities research technology advancement novel effective remediation contaminated water.

Removal of Acid Red 18 dye from Aqueous Solutions Using Nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron
Background and Purpose:Organic dyes with a complex structure are often toxic, carcinogenic, mutagenic, non-biodegradation and stable in the environment and if released to the environment without treatment can endanger the environment and human health. The aim was to evaluate the performance nanoscalezero-valent iron (NZVI) in the removal of dye acid red 18 (AR18) from aqueous solutions. Materia...
متن کاملAqueous phosphate removal using nanoscale zero-valent iron
Nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI) particles have been used for the remediation of a wide variety of contaminants. NZVI particles have high reactivity because of high reactive surface area. In this study, NZVI slurry was successfully used for phosphate removal and recovery. Batch studies conducted using different concentrations of phosphate (1, 5, and 10 mg PO4 -P/L with 400 mg NZVI/L) removed *...
متن کاملRemoval of As(III) and As(V) from aqueous solutions using nanoscale zero valent iron-reduced graphite oxide modified composites.
Nanoscale zero valent iron (NZVI) has high adsorption capacity of As(III) and As(V), but it is limited in practical use due to its small particle size and aggregation effect. Reduce graphite oxide (RGO) has been used as a support because of its high surface area. In order to utilize the advantage of NZVI and RGO as well as to avoid the disadvantage of NZVI, we loaded NZVI onto RGO via chemical ...
متن کاملAdsorptive Separation of Phenol from Aqueous Solution Using Nano Zero-valent Iron Impregnated Cashew Nut Shell
This paper investigates the potential of nano zero valent iron impregnated cashew nut shell nanoparticles (NZVI-CNS) as an effective adsorbent for the removal of phenol from aqueous solution. The effect of initial pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time and temperature were determined by batch adsorption experiments. Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm models were applied to the adsorption e...
متن کاملRemoval of Fe2+ from Aqueous Solution Using Manganese Oxide Coated Zeolite and Iron Oxide Coated Zeolite
The adsorption of Fe2+ by the manganese oxide coated zeolite (MOCZ) and iron oxide coated zeolite (FOCZ) was studied. Surface properties of adsorbents have been investigated for monitoring their changes and morphology for both of the MOCZ and FOCZ. Main variables namely; contact time, pH, initial concentration of Fe2+, size and dosage of adsorbent have been optimized, and the results contrasted...
